BEECH was created to aid high school biology students in developing their scientific inquiry skills.
Katie McDonald, a 2017 graduated from Lee High School, and Dr. Diane Shakes, a Biology Professor at the College of William & Mary, developed this project with high-school biology teachers Mrs. Amanda Horton and Mrs. Denise Carter in Lee County, Virginia.
The activities on this website were chosen from an original set of activities students in an upper-level biology course completed. The activities helped the students:
1) understand the application of their science education
2) develop their data analysis skills
3) develop their data interpretation skills.
This website is for any teacher or student to freely access the activities, accompanying powerpoints, and videos of Katie explaining the activities and powerpoints.
